Phase Identification System

The challenge: How can we make connecting equipment to a three-phase electric power system fast and easy? Our challenge was to find a way to simplify the electric phase identification, and to make connecting machinery, engines and generators much easier.

Our professional solution: The Novodes team developed a system for identifying and characterizing each of the three phases of the electric power system (S, R and T), which can also identify frequencies (50 or 60 Hz) based on electromagnetic induction. The system is wireless, and does not need a direct contact with the power line.

Technical specifications: We designed and simulated an analog layout for amplifying and screening signals on PSpice, conducted electronic design based on a Microchip PIC16 processor and performed a final testing and board bring-up. We also wrote embedded software in MPLAB-X IDE work environment.
